WLC 400: WLC Major Capstone
Course Description:
Students work with the instructor and WLC faculty advisors to research, synthesize, write and present their Capstone projects. Students will also complete a Graduation ePortfolio reflecting how each MLO was met. This course is required for all Japanese Language and Culture, and Spanish Language and Hispanic Cultures majors.
Course Narrative:
This class was a culmination of all my classes taken prior applied in a capstone project. This was essentially a year long research project- a continuation from pre-capstone. I learned to successfully work collaboratively with my capstone partner. This class fulfilled MLO 1 due to the focus on the Japanese half of the research proect. This also fulfilled MLO 2 as we had to survey Japanese students on their thoughts to American students to compare the two cultures. This course also fulfills MLO 4 as we had to utilize different google tools ranging from docs, slides, and spreadsheets to make graphs to showcase our findings for our research. We also had the librarian come show us different tools to find Japanese data and using alc to help with our vocabulary when making the Japanese slides. This course has definitely shown me a fraction of what to expect if I ever decide to achieve a higher level of education and pursue a masters.
